The Rainbow Pride Foundation depends on the generosity of supporters to run programmes that no commercial market would fund: human rights education, peer support, stigma reduction, inclusive disaster planning and community organising. This page explains why contributions matter, what they support, and how to give in a way that is responsible and verifiable.

Why contributions matter

Funding shapes what an organisation can do. Unrestricted support allows the foundation to respond to needs as they emerge — a community consultation that was not in the plan, a training request that arrives at short notice, a safety concern that needs immediate attention. Restricted funding supports a specific programme and gives the donor visibility over what their contribution achieved.

Both are useful. Unrestricted funding is simply more flexible, and for a community organisation working in a fast-changing context, flexibility is often the difference between responding quickly and responding late.

What your support funds

Contributions support the practical costs of community work: training venues and materials, transport so that participants from outside town can attend, peer educator support and supervision, production of resources, and the administrative backbone that keeps reporting and safeguarding standards intact. They also support the less visible work — follow-up calls, referrals, and the time it takes to build trust.

  • Community consultations, workshops and learning sessions.
  • Peer education networks and volunteer support.
  • Resource production and translation into accessible formats.
  • Inclusive climate and disaster resilience activities.
  • Monitoring, evaluation and honest reporting.

Ways to give and to help

Not everyone can give money, and money is not the only useful contribution. Time, professional skills, meeting space, printing, transport and introductions to potential partners all move the work forward. The table below sets out the main options and what each one supports.

Giving responsibly

Charitable giving should be easy to verify. Before making a contribution, confirm the payment details directly with the foundation through its official channels, and never transfer funds based on details sent by an unverified third party. If you receive a request that claims to come from the foundation but looks inconsistent, treat it as suspicious until it has been confirmed with the team.

Because banking arrangements, campaign appeals and programme priorities change, this page does not reproduce account numbers or deadlines. Please contact the foundation through our contact page or its official social media accounts for current giving information.

Accountability to supporters

Supporters are entitled to know what their contribution achieved. The foundation reports on programme activity through its blog and its published resources, and it is candid about what did not work as intended. If you would like a report on a specific programme you have supported, request it — and if we cannot provide what you need, we will say so plainly rather than fill the gap with estimates.

Thank you for considering this work. Every contribution, whatever its size, is part of a longer effort to make Fiji a place where nobody has to choose between safety and honesty.
